RENDERING NOTES

“They heard” (וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ) is a third-person plural vav-consecutive verb — subject is human pair.

“The sound of YHWH God” (קוֹל יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים) retains both divine names; “qol” can be rendered as voice, sound, or presence.

“Walking in the garden” uses participial form (מִתְהַלֵּךְ), conveying ongoing or habitual motion.

“At the breeze of the day” (לְרוּחַ הַיּוֹם) is left literal; often interpreted as “in the cool of the day,” but “ruach” also means spirit/wind.

“Hid themselves” (וַיִּתְחַבֵּא) is reflexive (Hithpael), rendered as mutual withdrawal.
